We had an Easter of fun, active and engaging Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) sessions for 296 children aged 5–16. Our sessions were designed to keep children active, social and supported during the school holidays, with a range of sports, games, crafts and team activities - plus a healthy meal provided each day.
The HAF programme is funded by the Department for Education and offers free places for children receiving benefits-related free school meals, helping families access enriching holiday provision at no cost.

Littlemoor: 467 children
Medlock Valley: 1070 children
Highlights- Lots of opportunities for paid work for some of our young leaders. It was great to see their confidence grow over the 16 sessions and hear them talking about the impact that the paid work was having on them personally.
We delivered 2 sessions at Medlock Valley Primary School, 2 sessions at Spring Meadow Family Hub and delivered our first SEND HAF with 8 children at The Brew, Fitton Hill.
We engaged with and provided hot meals to:
Medlock- 105 children
The Brew (SEND session) 16 children
Spring Meadows Family Hub 44 children
We had visits from Zoo Lab, Arcade Pop Up and even an interactive panto!
The SEND session provided a great opportunity for the young people who would find it difficult to access a larger setting, the chance to develop some good relationships with staff and to try different activities in a safe space.
Highlights- Thanks to funding from the Local Councillors in Oldham South, the children at Medlock Valley Primary School were treated to an interactive pantomime from The West Midlands Children’s Theatre. The team put on a production of Rick Whittington and all of the children really enjoyed the experience.
"I loved going to Wildbrook on a Tuesday. We made kites, cooked on a fire, picked fruit, made jam and did den building. My favourite thing was when we made bows and arrows."
"I can’t believe I actually got to hold a massive snail. The lady said that I was so gentle with it so that’s why it liked me the best."
"I had so much fun when the Comedy Shop came in- we did different activities and it was so good to be in a group with my friends."
" The arcade games were so cool, I liked it because we could play 2 player so my friend could play with me too. "
"I made my own spray paint picture. I had to put on overalls and I did the spray paint cans by myself. I’m going to put my picture on the wall."
"I liked the pantomime. I got to take part in it and had to go up on the stage with the people doing it. I know my Mum is going to say I was brave for standing up and joining in. "
Keep an eye out for our next school holiday activities which will be announced here.
